Sowing and Harvesting – The Garden in Late Summer

with Edith

The large garden in Dhagpo Möhra offers many possibilities to appreciate the beauty of the plants and to enjoy the world of vegetables, flowers and fruits.
For those who would like to discover this world or grow their skills in gardening, we are offering the opportunity to gain experience at different times of the year under the guidance of Edith, the gardener of our centre.
We will be planting, sowing, harvesting, mulching, etc. Exchanges about “little animals that eat our vegetables”, the creation of garden beds, “where does the fertiliser come from?” and any other topics you are interested in.If you want to know more about gardening and how to prepare it for the winter, see our Gardening Course 2 in November.
No previous experience needed.

Sowing and Harvesting – The Garden in Autumn

with Edith

The gardening year was rich, it is time to take stock and prepare the garden for winter.
Which plants can you harvest even in winter? How can you store garden fruits for a long time over the winter? How can the soil, the basis for plant growth, best recover? The living things in the soil, what do they need to get through the winter well and continue to help us in the next crop year? What has grown well, what less so and why? How do we manage expectations of our garden? What are our wants, needs and expectations for the coming gardening year? Drawing up a growing plan is a helpful tool.
We can still process dried herbs into tasty herbal salt and make a tea blend and bottle it nicely.
If there is still time, we can bake an apple strudel with local apples.
The course will take place in all weathers. Please bring appropriate clothing, gloves and pruning shears.
No previous knowledge necessary.
