Last Aid Course with Ingrid Marth and Birte Sattler

The Last Aid Course: The Basics of End-of-Life Care
The “Last Aid” course imparts fundamental knowledge and practical guidance for supporting people who are seriously ill or dying. Its central focus is on approaching seriously ill and dying individuals at the end of life with empathy and mindfulness.
Grounded in the premise that dying is a natural part of life, the course addresses four key thematic areas: understanding the processes of dying and death; making provisions and decisions; alleviating physical, psychological, social, and existential distress; and bidding farewell to life. Furthermore, the course offers both holistic and conventional medical perspectives, practical suggestions for daily life, and prompts for self-care—viewed as an essential component of providing support.
The course content is complemented by Buddhist perspectives on dying and death. Brief meditation sessions create space for personal experience and inner reflection.
