Mindfulness – a direct path with Dr. Martina Draszczyk

June 6 , 18:30 - June 9 , 12:30

Joint practice, explanations and exchange
Mindfulness and awareness are essential to our Buddhist practice. They provide the necessary thread for all aspects of the path, be it in terms of our vision, our meditation or our ethical behavior. With mindfulness training in a general sense, we train ourselves to actually be aware from moment to moment. This means we can experience our lives directly and shape them constructively instead of getting lost in our distorting narratives about them. The so-called “fourfold application of mindfulness” also refers to a specific training in mindfulness and ongoing awareness, which is primarily dedicated to developing deep insight (Vipaśyanā; Lhagthong). The four themes that are in the foreground here are mindfulness with regard to the body, sensations, mind and mental phenomena. The associated training aims to understand and experience the actual nature of our being in all its facets. This is why this practice is also referred to in Buddhism as a “direct path” of spiritual training. The basis for the explanations will be, on the one hand, some excerpts from Mahāyāna Sūtras, and on the other hand, a teaching that Shamar Rinpoche gave in May 2014 in Dhagpo Kagyü Ling (France). Gampopa (1079-1153), the founding father of the Tibetan Kagyu traditions, also says: “The king of mindfulness is to meditate on the sight without distraction. Practice this without being distracted by various circumstances. Seek nothing other than the flow of unwavering mindfulness.”
During these days we will immerse ourselves in a concentrated manner in a general and specific form of mindfulness practice. We will meditate while sitting and moving. The interaction of the supportive atmosphere of the center and our practice together will make it easier for us to discover and consolidate more inner peace and clarity within ourselves.
